Taking Australian Art to the World
Legendary Australian artist, Donald H. Green, is preparing to yet again take his brushes and paints to the walls of the world.
Appearing at The Hotel Show in Dubai later this month, Green will be displaying a new work entitled “Palms, Pheasants and Parakeets”.
With a number of murals in hotels from Greece to the Middle East, as well as both public and private spaces in London, New York and Australia, Green has created a reputation for envisaging stunning natural scenes that give a lush and sumptuous feel to any space.
Recently returning to Australia and making Sydney his base, Green will be the first artist with his unique mural style to appear at the show. Believing that works like these are what give a luxury hotel a distinct appeal, Green is looking forward to showing the opulence that can be created with paint.
“Using my paint and gilding techniques the work has an almost 3D effect in different light,” said Green. “There is definitely a luminosity that is reminiscent of religious iconography”.
“The work is based on the bird’s of Indonesia,” continued Green. “I recently came across sketches I had done of the birds from an earlier trip and thought they would be ideal for this show”.
The Hotel Show is on from 28-30 September at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
