Link Jewelry Summit
At the end of last month, the Link Jewelry Summit in Vienna pulled together a dream panel to discuss the evolution of style and creativity.
Nadja Swarovski, (Swarovski Crystals), was joined by two of America’s leading tastemakers in Iris Apfel and Deborah Lloyd.
92-year-old Iris Apfel, a somewhat irreverent fashion icon, had a long career in interior design, which she has now transitioned into fashion and accessories.
Deborah Lloyd has been creative director for Kate Spade for the last six years. Her background has taken her from Burburry to J Crew.
Here is some of what they had to say –
IA “Wit and humour are life. They should be embodied in everything from how you dress to what you have in your house”.
DL “There’s so much to buy in the world, that you really want a personal connection to anything out there to make it yours. Wit and whimsy help”.
IA “Being happy is so important. It’s more important than being beautiful or perfectly dressed.”
DL “Great design doesn’t have to cost the world. Great design can be the simplest thing. Great design just works”.
NS “Good design is the new gold.”
