A late Victorian 18k yellow gold Mizpah band ring - a band ring with a raised inscription of Mizpah over a textured ground along with two palmettes and two rectangular floral motifs between fine raised borders - Mizpah, the Hebrew word for "watchtower" was used in Victorian jewellery to signify an emotional bond between the giver and the wearer - traditionally the interpretation is " God watcheth between me and thee, when we are absent, one from the other" marked for 18k gold along with hallmarks for Coley Brothers of Birmingham and dated 1900 along with a scratched inventory number below the hallmark - total weight 3.5grms - overall dimensions 19 x 6mm - ring size approx M AU/UK (US 6) - 1900 England
