A vintage 18k yellow gold Patek Philippe Horizontal Golden Ellipse mens wrist watch - a mechanical wrist watch with horizontal ellipse face with baton markers and metal face housed in a solid gold case and bracelet with a folding safety latch clasp - this design known as the Golden Ellipse is based on the golden ratio; an ancient ratio of proportion of 1:1.6181,  it is an unusual re-occurring ratio used in mathematics and architecture throughout the centuries to design some of the most beautiful buildings and objects in the world - the Horizontal Ellipse is the rarer model of the Golden Ellipse series - marked 750 for 18k gold and the bracelet case, face and movement marked for Patek Philippe of Geneva - total weight including movement 88.15grms - wearable length 170mm width 32mm - c.1970 Switzerland ( boxed in a modern Patek Philippe travelling case )
